Gradisca d’Isonzo the small town in the Isonzo River area backed by the Gorizia Karst and bordered by the Isonzo River. Gradisca was originally a medieval fortress built by the Republic of Venice (1479/1490), the fortress walls are said to be designed by Leonardo Da Vinci to defend the Serenissima from the Turk invasion.
